Do the Math: Saving Lives is Cost Effective!
One of our project schools, Osembe Elementary, reminded us that clean water and hygiene benefits really add up
Providing clean drinking water and access to sanitation & hygiene is far more economical than the cost of doing nothing. With all of the illness that results from unsafe water, the children at Osembe elementary calculated that it is 618 times cheaper to keep people healthy!

Right now, Global Water Challenge is working with African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF) in the Mtwara Rural region of Tanzania. The average life expectancy in this area is just 50 years. The people in the region have little or no access to clean drinking water or safe sanitation — two fundamental resources for good health.
GWC and AMREF have partnered to bring clean drinking water and safe sanitation to schools in Mtwara. One particular school, Nyundo Primary School has 604 students, with only two toilets. There is no well — only a water pond of dubious quality.
Imagine if you had to choose between going thirsty or drinking water that makes you sick. $20 will help bring clean toilets and drinking water to the students at Nyundo Primary School. Our goal is to raise $5,000.

We'll keep you posted on our progress at Nyundo Primary School throughout the year on our website. With your help, I hope to be able to report on how your contribution has changed the lives of these children.
Please give what you can to help us reach our goal of $5,000 and to help the students reach their next important milestone.
