Global Water Challenge is Partnering with Crystal Light to Support Women's Health

Grant will support water access for women

The Crystal Light Water Way Challenge encourages women to drink more water but, importantly, also calls attention to the plight of women for whom it's not an easy task. Crystal Light has generously donated $50,000 to Global Water Challenge in support of our efforts to help women in developing countries gain access to clean drinking water. Of nearly a billion people worldwide who lack access to water, women are most impacted. On average, women and girls in developing countries walk nearly 3.5 miles carrying almost 42 pounds of water each day. Women and children spend 40 billion hours each year collecting water.

The donation from Crystal Light will help Global Water Challenge further the work of the Center for Community Organization and Development (CCODE) in Malawi. Some of the activities that will benefit include providing financial and technical support to introduce eco-sanitation facilities in central marketplaces. Additionally, CCODE will be able to help with the creation of partnerships among local authorities and communities to ensure the poorest in the community receive safe water at a reduced cost.
