GWC Events: Live Earth

GWC is going to be at Bonnaroo this year!

Global Water Challenge is excited to be the lead non-profit partner at Bonnaroo this year! Bonnaroo, the country's largest and greenest music festival highlights one critical issue every year and in 2009, water is it. Rich Goodstone, Vice-President of Superfly Productions said: "Water is such an urgent and important issue-close to a billion people lack access to clean water around the world. Bonnaroo wanted to get involved and support Global Water Challenge to help bring attention to the crisis. With everyone's involvement we can bring solutions to those who are in need."

Global Water Challenge and some of our members (CARE, charity:water, and Water for People) will be featured in the Planet Roo area. We'll be in a tent exhibiting photos, videos, and water solution displays. We'll also give you the opportunity to see what it feels like to carry a 40 pound jerry can and win some prizes, and get some great take-aways-including a postcard to mail to your friends!

In an effort to raise awareness of water issues facing the world, reducing waste, and upgrading the drinking water onsite, Bonnaroo and our friends at STANLEY nineteen13 are implementing the Less-Bottle Water Program.

For each purchase of this Bonnaroo branded reusable stainless steel water bottle, GWC will get $1 towards our programs in the field. With every dollar that is donated, we are able to get closer to bringing someone access to clean water and safe sanitation.

It doesn't take much to start helping people get access to clean drinking water. For just $16 you can help provide a school like Ragen Elementary in Kenya with clean drinking water for an entire year. We know how to solve this problem — we just need your help getting there! Take a look at our video about Ragen to see how these entrepreneurial students helped to get clean water for their school.

Come by and meet us! June 11-14th!

About Bonnaroo

The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is a four-day, multi-stage camping festival held on a beautiful 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee every June. Bonnaroo brings together some of the best performers in rock and roll, along with dozens of artists in complementary styles such as jazz, Americana, hip-hop, electronica, and just about any contemporary music you can think of. In addition to dozens of epic performances, the festival's 100-acre entertainment village buzzes around the clock with attractions and activities including a classic arcade, on-site cinema, silent disco, comedy club, theater performers, a beer festival, and a music technology village. For its peaceful vibe, near-flawless logistics, and unrivaled entertainment options, Rolling Stone magazine named this revolutionary entertainment experience one of the 50 moments that changed the history of rock and roll.
